This weekend wasn’t without its low points for Zac. Zac sprained his ankle pretty badly on Saturday morning while finishing up some yard work (see nasty photo of his hobbit foot above). This resulted in his having to hobble through the wedding festivities with a cane. But on the bright side, it gave Zac an excuse for extra cuddle time on the couch with Clara (see photo, taken just after the injury), and we learned that a cane is a super-stylish accessory and Zac can rock it with the best of ‘em. He actually got compliments on it! Go figure.
We also learned that the University of Arkansas is apparently not Clara’s favorite. Sorry Zac. (Michigan, on the other hand, received high marks as she rolled over for the first time while wearing her U of M jersey… Rice and OU have yet to be tested.)
Since Baba was in town for Ayschia’s wedding, we had the joy of having four generations of Annes (Barbara, Nancy, Lauren, and Clara) together on Mother’s Day weekend. It was so special. Baba and Mom both gave me the same Mother’s Day card, even though they shopped for them separately in different states! I guess great minds think alike, because it was the perfect card. I love you, Baba and Mom, and I’m so thankful for the example of motherhood that you have set for me!
Great-grandma Baba came for a visit today and we made a birthday cake for Nana. Right before she arrived at the house, I realized that we only had one egg, but the recipe called for three. We decided that I would run up the street to get some eggs and Baba would stay home with Clara, who was wide awake and happily swinging. As I was walking out the door, Baba pulled a chair up in front of Clara and said, “Alright, I’m gonna talk and you’re gonna listen.” When I returned a few minutes later, Baba was still talking and Clara was still listening! I guess Zac’s prayer that Clara would be an obedient child has been answered!
Ayschia and Jeff got married this weekend! The photos are from her bachelorette party on Friday and her wedding on Sunday (my toast). We wish them all the best, and can’t wait to witness the adventures that God has for them in this new chapter!
Happy 60th Birthday Grandma Lindsey!
P.S. It is super hard to take a photo of an awake infant wearing a homemade paper crown… You should try it someday and let me know if you have any tips. In any event, I really like some of these “out takes.”
Hope you are having a wonderful birthday, Virginia! We love you!
I just adore this photo of my two loves. It was taken at the doctor’s office, where Clara had her 2-month checkup on Monday. She is now 11 lbs, 3 oz (60th percentile), 23.25 inches (80th percentile). The doctor said she was beautiful! She got her first round of shots and has been recovering from those pretty well.
Clara reached two months yesterday and celebrated by getting to see all four grandparents, which involved her first visit to Nana and Opa’s house (where I’m sure that someday she will love bumping down their carpeted stairs on her bottom, just as I did for hours on end at Marmee’s house).
My “home grown” cutie is home growing right out of my favorite set of onesies! (These two onesies are the same size!)
